Works-in-Progress

This page is not an indication of what projects are completed or being published, but merely a window into where my mind is. -updated September 2011

1. I am currently focusing on WESTON GETS HIS WISE. I first imagined a society filled with stoic owls who run the show. Along comes a goofy, class-clown owl who mucks things up in the tightly run society where an owlet's main goal is to gain his Wise. Instead, Weston's goals are to have fun and to march to the beat of a different drummer. In doing so, he stumbles upon a plot to destroy the owls. The plot turns into a full-fledged war that covers the entire Forest of Pembroke. Mice vs Rats, Raccoons vs Foxes, and Crows vs Owls.

As you can see, the story is still being developed. Part of the reason I am even mentioning it here is to motivate myself to FINALLY finish a novel.

Other works-in-progress:

2.
3.
A collaborative effort with Kelly Polark, SASQUATCH ELEANOR is a middle grade novel. The pace with which this story is progressing may not be inspiring, but the love Kelly and I have for our premise guarantees a winning story is at the end of the journey.

4. A semi-secret collaboration with Heather Kelly that includes a mad scientist, a not-quite-as-mad scientist, a boy, and his group of friends who suddenly find themselves with powers.

5. Princess Rowan has spent sixteen, horribly boring years stuck in a castle that is stuck in the sky. With the help of her best friend, Vetti, who is also castle's inventor journeyman, Rowan plans her escape which will allow her to reconcile things with the kingdom that banished her family to live among the clouds. Everything about the escape goes as planned, until the very last second when a soldier who has a crush on Rowan tries to save her and Vetti tries to deter the soldier. Together, the love triangle falls over the edge of the balcony and have to rely on Vetti's barely tested landing apparatus to save them. Of course, surviving the landing is the least of their worries.

  1. Can't wait to see the visual once we get rolling again on our superhero tale. I love the picture for SE. And Colonel Mustard got me laughing. I can tell you're feeling inspired!

  2. I like #3. I think Bigfoot would make an amusing character in a middle grade novel. I also like mad scientists. Have you ready Franny K. Stein?
