When life gives you lemons...

Hi people.  You know how life sucks and everyone tells you hold onto that happy horse shit saying, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade"?  Well, I f*ing hate lemonade.  It's sour and dry and does the complete opposite of quenching your thirst.  Plus, I choke on the pulp.  So I ask you, friends, gimme some life recipes, which may not include the super sour lemons I am about to throw at the window.

Btw, the next post is my 100th and I am talking about one of my fave authors via Elana's Amazingly Awesome Authors list.  The post will be up Monday.

#01 FAVORITE SONG OF ALL-FREAKING-TIME

If you have the album or CD or whatever you kids listen to these days, get off the computer now and indulge, or listen to this inferior version:

"A Day in the Life" The Beatles (Lennon/McCartney)

#02 Favorite Song of All-Time

dc4c!

tell me this song is not epic

it's not a music video, btw, but you'll end up closing your eyes anyway

"Transatlanticism" Death Cab for Cutie

I need you so much closer  I need you so much closer  I need you so much closer  I need you so much closer

(more cowbell)

I need you so much closer  I need you so much closer  I need you so much closer  I need you so much closer

so come on, come on  come on    so, come on  come on    so, come on  come on        so, come on  come on

This may confuse some folks, but my fave dc4c song to listen to is "Summer Skin", which is the song of my teenage years.

hint for my #1 favorite song of all-freaking-time: "Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall"

#03 Favorite Song of All-Time

The first time I heard MGMT was during the summer of 2007 and this song has since become the most played song on my iTunes.  The music video is flippin' epic.

Give it up for:

"Time to Pretend" MGMT

There's no way I could get away with not sharing this fanvid of MGMT's most popular song, which has over 25 million views on YouTube!

Hint for tomorrow: ♥ d ♥ c ♥ 4 ♥ c ♥

The song and title keep me going on a daily basis.  If you can, really turn all your speakers up for this one!

#05 Favorite Song of All-Time

We're halfway there!

The Postal Service has been one of my fave bands since 2003, when they released their only album Give Up.  I have been hoping and praying for a sophomore, but in the meantime, the lead singer has been busy building my number two favorite band who, coincidentally, sings my #02 favorite song.

This is not the music video because they cut the song short by two minutes, so you're listening to the album version and if you don't turn the sound all the way up you'll miss some of the song (but I really advise you to invest in a copy on iTunes):

"We Will Become Silhouettes" The Postal Service

another TPS great:

Hell, I might as well post the musicvid from their most famous song"

Hint for tomorrow: -M&K:-

#06 Favorite Song of All-Time

Kate Nash is the most fun and energetic singer ever.  No bad mood can resist her storytelling charm:

No music vid, so I choose this awesomesauce fanvid.

"Mariella" Kate Nash

"Merry Happy"(fanvid) and "Foundations" (Official Video)

Thom Yorke is just amazing to me, but do me a favor and ignore the source of this song: The New Moon soundtrack.

"Hearing Damage" Thom Yorke

#08 Favorite Song of All-Time

i n r a i n b o w s

My number #08 song comes from one of the biggest bands of my generation off their most recent album In Rainbows.  I've listened to my #08 song on the freeway to the city and it'll take me seventy miles to realize that I have listened to it twenty times.  It's captivating:

This is not the official music video, but I love the images

#08 "All I Need" Radiohead

And I adore their latest album's cover

Here's a throwback to the song that made them: (not the musvid, but who says no to JD?)

Hint for #07: rdiohds lead singer is the only artist to appear on this list twice

#09 Favorite Song of All-Time

My ninth favorite song comes from my third favorite band (me. odd. lists. i. know.) K O L.  There is no music video for this song, so I put a performance from Reading, England, where KOL has been wildly popular for years*.  In fact, the #09 song is written for their British fans:

*Like, before "Use Somebody"

#09 "Fans" Kings of Leon

And a bonus video to amplify the sheer sexitude:

What the hey, have another:

Sorry about all that, here's tomorrow's hint: i b w a n n o r

#10 Favorite Song of All-Time

I believe you know how odd I am with my lists.  Well, I've decided to share my top ten favorite songs with you over the next ten posts leading up to my 100th post!  All songs beg to be purchased on iTunes or wherever you normally go.

Number 10 comes to you from two different performers, but both are brilliant:

#10 a) "Heartbeats" The Knife
#10 b) "Heartbeats" Jose Gonzales

Hint for tomorrow: K O L

A contest that's easy and so worth your time

Steve's trailer is literally my favorite trailer to date.  to. date. my friends.  If you aren't familiar with his blog, head on over, you'll be even more psyched about his September debut.  (click on the video to view on YouTube, where the video isn't sliced, or watch on Steve's blog.)

Also, I wanted to let everyone know that Tina is hosting another unplugging in The Practice Room at 12:00 PM EST tomorrow, Thursday.  If you're like, huh, another one, well, I haven't been a good supporter and have failed to spread the glitter about Tina's latest venture.  It's a supportive blog based off the idea of unplugging.  It's so oxymoronic, it's brilliant.  Check it out and at least get your juices flowing.  Whether or not you're able to participate during her scheduled times, TPR will become a place of solace, 100% guaranteed, or your...time back.

It's just sitting there, taunting me and my busy a**

I haven't drooled over a book's release since Catching Fire, but I have been too busy to even crack the spine.  : (

Let alone write a decent post.

The moment before the epic fail

(Blogger is punishing me for my hiatus by screwing with my layout and design.  Please forgive the design disaster around you.)

You know what I mean, the 'I know I am supposed to be doing something...but...I have no idea what it is...why don't I just go on a weekend getaway'.  Well, I got home last night and realized it's Library Appreciation Week and I was suppose to participate, which I was going to do with an interview of my friend who works at the library and will have her masters in Library Science in May.  So, Shelli Johannes of Market My Words is hosting links for people who wanted to participate, like I did.  But, yay me, my blogging hiatus messed with my mind and Shelli's reminder email went in one ear and out the other.  Sad story, I know, but the libraries will live on.

I apologize that my return post is so lame and bland, but it is very representative of my life right now.  I am just so glad to be back.  I started my new job at the gas station, which is like the hardest thing I have ever done.  There are hundreds and hundreds of types of cigarettes. Who knew?!  People like to buy beer in the morning too.  Like a can of beer.  One can.

Anyway, updates to follow.  And a photo of my uniform for Anita.

Somehow I feel like I am on the precipice of another epic fail...

Two Things

1. I hereby ban the use of chagrin from future use in YA books.  There, I said it.  And yes, I can do that.

2. I am officially going back into my break.  The past few days were awesome, thanks for condoning my indulgences!  Again, I'll be back mid-April.  I will be in Illinois for a while and then back and rearing to go!
