Token Post

Well, I have a lot to say, but so little time.

I am writing a research paper on locavorism. Here's my thesis, "With a determined mind and an adventurous spirit, West Michiganders can easily make the transition toward a rewarding and healthy lifestyle as a locavore." I am beginning to feel very passionate about my topic and I am excited to become an advocate for a win-win lifestyle. As you can tell from past posts, I have quite a bit of fervor for my town.

Work has been mind-bending. I pretty much work 2:30 or 4:30 to midnightish. My town is a tourist town and from Memorial Day to Labor Day each year we are inundated with folks from Chicago and Detroit by freeway and Wisconsin by ferry - there are a few thousand vacation homes here. The Fourth of July will probably be the craziest day of my life and I am terrified, BUT I will survive and probably walk away with enough money to make the scars worth it.

I am going to see Katy Perry in concert tomorrow! In general, I am not a fan of pop music, but Katy is so fun and cute. Almost every song she comes out with makes my life happier. I am going with one of my best friends and we are bound to have a great time!

What else? I'm so out of it.

How are you?

  1. Jon I <3 you.

I really hope you survive the weekend. If nothing else, those scars will make for awesome book fodder.

And I totally laughed at your thesis statement! It's awesome! Oh! And enjoy Katy Perry!

  2. I hated Teenage Dream. I wanted to strangle the radio every time that song played. The lyrics just bug me.

  3. Your thesis sounds really interesting. I've done a lot of research on eating locally and since I've moved to Virginia I've been trying to do that as often as I can. It's difficult in winter (unless you live somewhere like California) but I think it's worth it the rest of the year. There are so many local farmers trying to get by, why no purchase from them, boost the local economy, and get fresher food?

  4. That's great that you like your research project topic. It makes it so much easier to write.

Good luck with the busy season. I know what you mean. I'm covering a lot right now for other attorneys on vacation. And it's been super busy.

    Have fun at the concert.

  6. I'm not a big pop person, either, but I can see how that would be a fun concert. Hope you have a great time!

  7. I'm embarrassed to admit that I have no idea what locavorism is. I even checked for it (and locavore) in the dictionary and it said "No results were found." So I hope I can sleep tonight, not knowing what it means! I'm kinda kidding and kinda not! Must have OCD. It's like hearing a joke but not getting the punch line.

But the Katy Perry concert sounds like a blast! I would love to hear her live. Let us know how it was.

  8. LynNerd - it means eating things grown and produced locally. Barbara Kingsolver wrote a book about it a few years ago.

And Jon- sounds like a nutty month ahead for you. Godspeed, sir.
Katy Perry, sure. I kind of like Kesha, in spite of myself.

  9. Oh! I am such a mess! Still sick and now I've pulled something in my chest and so I swear when I cough (the swears are internal when the kids are around). However (wish I could italicize that), I am feeling a little more chipper at the moment...must harness that feeling so I can get some things DONE. Have seen so many vacation commercials for Michigan lately...what's going on there...is it really that cool?
