A week of torture and look how far I've come...to...nowhere.
I have absolutely no idea what to post today. (This is where you yell at me to get to work!) I dibbled and I dabbled yesterday. Scottie and I tried to hang out, but he was too busy trying to figure out who he is. So, today, I have nothing to post about. Stat Counter is so not going to like this post. Tina suggested I create a metaphor using my puppy as the Snowflake Method, which is funny since Mariah suggested the same thing yesterday. Uh...considering Puppy is one of the major factors in my writing neglect, I think she can be ignored on the blog for a bit. The biggest thing my writing and Belle share is the intense production of a lot of crap. Heather is so going to yell at me for the self-deprecation.
Okay, I'll make a goal for the day: I will begin my plot map and allow the first three steps to click and fall into place in my head. Then, when that happens, I will share. Deal?
Have I redeemed myself?
No, well, fine, here's a little bit of Puppy for you then.
(Belle is on the left, we are baby-sitting Louie on the right while his fam is in Florida)
Here, have some sunrise.
It's criminal for someone with so much to do to be this bored...
Oh...look at the puppy snuggles. So sweet! Mine turned 11 weeks yesterday. I think the blog is due for a pic.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, consider yourself yelled at, in a friendly, supportive kind of way. Everyone has down days. And it's amazing what you shove into every other day. WIBIJ. You are super productive all the time. And you blog every. single. day. You turn around critiques in record time. You spread glitter around the blogosphere. You are genuinely available all the time for, well, everyone. So, relax. You don't have to perform for us. Jump through hoops. That are on fire. Although, that would be cool.
ReplyDeleteAnd, you can't rush the writing and the thinking. If you are having a thinking day, have a thinking day. No need to apologize. :)
Anissa - They will be 11 weeks on Friday! I look forward to seeing a picture of yours.
ReplyDeleteReally you could write anything and post a cute puppy pic at the end, and it would be awesome. That is the power of puppies.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to yell at you for your self-deprecation (even though you yelled at me two days ago) because I'm nice like that. Just sayin'
ReplyDeleteAnd PUPPY!! I love puppies.
Heather - ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
ReplyDeleteAlissa - You are so right, I just feel like I am copping out if I do that...so, let's focus on my goal.
ReplyDeleteMarisa - I know, I am sorry, please yell at me, I like it. The puppies would like you too.
The puppies are darling. Now I'm curious as to where you're going when you "unplug." I think we should all write flash fiction while you're gone, in your comment section about where you could be? Who knows maybe someone will make a novel out of it.
ReplyDeleteProbably combining a few would make the most creative story- Alien abduction(though pre-planned doesn't usually go with abductions, but this is fresh materiel we're writing), combine that with surgical removal of something (???), combined with . . . . jury duty.
Now we start the snowflake method, right?
Julie - You are on to something. Make me proud guys. Although, I am not leaving for two weeks, so wait till then.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a deadline? If not, take a short break from writing and the computer, and like parents always say "go get some fresh air, kid". That's what they say in books and movies anyway :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh, puppies <3
"Scottie and I tried to hang out, but he was too busy trying to figure out who he is."
ReplyDeleteVery funny. :)
Haha, why am I not surprised you like being yelled at? :)
ReplyDeleteJon, don't you dare say your work is crap ONE MORE TIME. It's not, and I, having read a large portion of it, should know :) I agree wholeheartedly with everything Heather said. I'll say it again, everything, wholeheartedly got that? Saying wholeheartedly that many times just doesn't sound right, I need to get my vocab machine fixed too. Your puppy is too cute, maybe I'll post pics of mine. And Jon I accept your challenge stay tuned at my blog. Remember, wholeheartedly ;)
ReplyDeleteCharlie - Deadline? For the whole book? Uh, no. Should I? I think that could be very bad.
ReplyDeleteMG - Haha, I didn't even notice I had written that until you pointed it out.
Marisa - I know, I am like narcissistic and glittery-weirdness.
ReplyDeleteCrystal - Thanks!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I am in love with that dog picture!! AND it's hard to blog everyday--I'm in a slump myself!
ReplyDeleteDude, it sounds like you can waste time as well as I can. And that's saying something, because I can be on the computer for HOURS and do absolutely nothing but harvest my lotus flowers and make some virtual soup.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your plot mapping today!
Plot mapping - isn't that huge, like hugely important and taking up huge parts of the brain and then it soaks into you as you go through your day and the plot and the story and characters and everything keeping growing? Huge work and a huge goal.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, and I think it's cool that you'll be taking time off from blogging. Everybody will miss you, but it's like hearing a friend will be climbing a mountain. The friend will be missed, but we know the climb & new views will be fantastic.
You know Jon, we're mostly women reading this. Therefore, as long as you throw in something cute like puppies or mention chocolate repeatedly we're good with whatever. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe all have the down days or the oh-my-gosh-what-the-heck-am-I-gonna-post days! No biggie.
I would yell at you to get to work, but those puppies are so cute... I'm afraid if I yell they might wake up from their puppy nap.
ReplyDeleteChristina - Thanks for the puppy-lovins.
ReplyDeleteElana - I am beaming. Should I be beaming about being a good slacker?
Robert - I hope the friend comes back from the mountain alive. (Rock climbing scares the hell outta me, can we use a different analogy? ;) )
ReplyDeleteAlso, the plot mappage was supposed to have been last week, so me mentioning it is my poor attempt at trying to get caught up on the that. I'll keep you updated.
Shannon - You said it, not me. I hope you don't mind more of that then.
ReplyDeleteRi - The puppies are now sulking. I yelled at them for not listening and so they are pretending to be napping.
Ha!
ReplyDeleteHeather yells and I laugh. You make me laugh. And listen to Robert. This creative writing stuff takes up a lot of space. Give yourself a break and climb a small mound (a safe one?), leave some glitter there. Like an offering. he plot map gods will love you for it.
Perfectly presentable post for someone who didn't know what to write about.
I feel the same way, Jon. Except instead of puppies, I post pics of my kids. LOL!
ReplyDeleteCUTE CUTE CUTE pics btw
You have my permission to take a break. Everyone has those days where they don't feel productive. Use it to rest up, snuggle a puppy or two, read. Then tomorrow get up, do some aerobics, have cabbage juice for breakfast and get back at it!
ReplyDeleteSAMS: What vegetable do you not care for very much? :)
SAMS: Who do you think is the hottest celebrity? Which one gets on your nerves the most?
Nothing big to ponder, just some fun stuff to think about today and then get your buttinski to work tomorrow!
Did you start WIBIJ yet? I just had to scroll back to your old posts to remember what it was going to be about? I forget, I'm not as smart as Anita or Crew ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, you are smart, Kelly. Very smart!
ReplyDeleteHOP TO!!
ReplyDeletedo you do writing sprints? sit for 20 minutes and focus and write as many words as you can. Sometimes that helps me. Plus, that's about the length of my attention span for any given project.
Go for a romp on that incredible lake shore. And, keep those puppy pictures coming!!
ReplyDeleteThat puppy is so freaking cute!
ReplyDeleteI love that single icicle in the picture. Too cool!
ReplyDeleteI took the day off, too. Must be in the air. Or I'm mentally exhausted. Possibly lazy. Yes, lazy. Anyway, love the pix.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so it's like hearing that a friend will be going on a cruise. The friend will be missed, but we know the ocean & relaxation & everything will be fantastic. Just don't go all Titanic on me.
ReplyDeleteFor someone who had nothing to post about, you certainly did a fine job.
ReplyDeleteTLL - I had no idea there were plot gods. You'd think being Dionysus in spirit would help me to see the other godly presence...s, is that a word?
ReplyDeleteKelly - Covered via email.
Kelly - I forgot. Anita and Crew includes you silly. I totally wanted to put your name, but then I knew Anita would huff and puff...forgive me?
ReplyDeleteDecember - Interesting suggestion, I will certainly give it a try.
ReplyDeletePaul, we are getting feet of snow, so sadly Lake Mich and are are not in for some QT anytime soon. I'll walk around our ponds a few times.
Kimberly - :)
ReplyDeleteGirl w/1i - Thanks, purely accidental.
Tina - The synonyms don't matter, as long as you got a good rest.
Robert - I cannot wait for Heather to see that...she knows something about me that you don't. Re: water, fear, death, water, hate, fear, crabs.
ReplyDeleteTerryLJ - Thanks, I am glad it ended up being such a sensation!
ReplyDeleteJonathan - I was totally teasing about the Anita and Crew comment. And silly me, I was thinking, "Who the hell is Crew?!" I thought there was a witty blogger out there that I was missing out on!
ReplyDeleteI am kind of an airhead at times...
You make a me giggle!
ReplyDeleteYou are redeemed. Those puppies are adorable. And the sunset. Ah.
