Anita - The way Lennon turns almost trivial news into the perfect lyrics and McCartney talks about the morning on his way to work is so odd, it's perfect. That and the mad music make for a timeless song. This song is my favorite because I can't go more than a day without hearing it and the final cord holds all the secrets if life, we just haven't figured out how to understand it yet.
If your last comment was meant for me... then dude. That song rocks. I hope the true feelings you are holding back are over-enthusiastic feelings of elation, for my #1 choice is just so AWESOME.
Without regard to the song itself, I cannot stand hearing it because I worked at Pier 1 Imports for five years and that song was always on and it seared into my brain and is now synonymous with hatred. It's all involuntary, of course.
OMG, how you were able to stand working at Pier 1 for five years is beyond me. You deserve a medal for that. The scented candles alone make my nose bleed.
ButI think the reason it is my #1 is it ALWAYS makes me wanna dance. No funky foul mood can't be fixed with Rock the Casbah!
I am feeling comment remorse. I should not have dissed Pier 1. It isn't their fault that I am allergic to their candles and therefore equate going to Pier 1 with dying a horrible death by scented candle.
Probably like how you equate Rock the Casbah with hatred.
Haha. I had this customer come in once and made me follow her out the door to the sidewalk. She explained that she was allergic to the scents, but needed to buy a giftcard and so she gave me a credit card and I rang it all up and had her sign on a clipboard. It was all so weird.
Haha, I would have had to do that. Just walking past the open door makes my head explode.
And watching people with no rhythm dance is my favorite. And also, I love to dance. And KOC sum up my feelings toward all people perfectly in this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9r9sQ6PHOM
Jon, great choice! I haven't heard this song for a long time but have listened to it many many times over the years. As soon as I clicked on play my wife started singing along with it.
And I really like your explanation in the comments about why it is your favorite.
Uhhh... Maybe everyone here can say I lack taste or something. I had a hard time getting into the song. *Shuddering* Sorry, Jon. I think you're cool and all, but I don't care for the Beatles.
Shoot--such a bland comment! :0 sometimes shuffling kids around and snacktime is not conducive to leaving a quick message. Thanks for sharing the music--this song in particular has deep roots in my life.
haha, we have very different #1 Top Favorite Song of All-Freaking-Times.
ReplyDeleteI like your pick! Its an amazing song!
I am in love with this song. I 'discovered' them when I was 14 and have loved the Beatles ever since. :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent choice!
ReplyDeleteWHY is this your fav? What does your choice say about you?
ReplyDeleteIt's a very narrative song. You're unusual, Jon.
ReplyDeleteMarisa - Elaborate, what's your number one pick?
ReplyDeleteCrystal - :):):)

ReplyDeleteTina - I am unusual, yes, but why is this an odd choice?
ReplyDeleteUm... my #1 of all times is a little silly next to yours, but here it is:

Ah, there's the explanation we need: I hate dancing.
ReplyDeleteI am feeling comment remorse. I should not have dissed Pier 1. It isn't their fault that I am allergic to their candles and therefore equate going to Pier 1 with dying a horrible death by scented candle.

Wait HOLD ON A MINUTE HERE... I just saw your last comment now... you hate DANCING? But... but... but...
ReplyDelete... I have no words.

ReplyDeleteAlso, I was royalty at Pier 1.
I have absolutely no rhythm. None.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I would have had to do that. Just walking past the open door makes my head explode.

I love that song! If I could dance like anyone it would have to be this kid:

ReplyDeleteCan't say I'm a fan of the Beatles, but I can't deny their greatness via success.
ReplyDeleteLove the song! LOVE it =)
ReplyDeleteI did not say it was an odd choice. I said you are unusual. Two different things.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice, Jon. I love those songs that you just HAVE to listen to every single day.
ReplyDeleteDid you see this, Jon?
