...and prove that someone likes my town I am sharing this video produced by my state's travel and tourism site. What's that? You recognize the voice? Why yes it is Buzz Lightyear. The photos are from a father and son team of photographers whose gallery is in the downtown and I love to spend an afternoon in the shop talking about politics, the weather, and great books.
Suck it Cali.

Ludington is darn purty!
ReplyDeleteIs Tim Allen from Ludington?
I love vacations that are about relaxation and nature. (though we do those vacations in Wisconsin, no offense to Michigan)
Hey Joe,
ReplyDeleteK, so I want to come visit. Those lighthouses!! It's really beautiful. Your town, not just the lighthouses :)
But, how does Tim Allen figure in to this? Why is Ludington, cute little town that it is, on his agenda?
Also, where the heck is your writing?! You're two days late mister ;) jk, I know you've been working like crazy. But you know I had to say it.
Awwwwww... that was so....
ReplyDeletefreakin' cheesy.
I'm more partial to these videos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vojkGYZjTc4
showing, not only the beauty of Santa Cruz, CA, but the rich history surrounding it.
and this indie film -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIOqzA34qsk
which not only shows how charming and peaceful Santa Cruz is in the first half, but reminds us in the second, that Santa Cruz is a whole heckuvalotta fun!
And Tim Allen? Oh, come on.
Suck it Michigan.
Kelly - Tim is not from Ludington. Isn't he from Pontiac, where Home Improvement took place. No, wait, I think he's from Traverse City. Oh hell, I dunno. I haven't been to WI for twenty years.
ReplyDeleteCrystal - Tim Allen + $$$ = advertisement for Michigan. Michigan paid for this ad, not Ludington. They did like twenty other ones too.
Marisa - Sorry that we don't have all this money from Hollywood to support us. Oh wait, the money Cali is high on right now is from the Federal Gov't.
ReplyDeleteYou're a big meanie.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I am, so kidding. But Cali, New York, Washington, Massachusetts and all the other 'cool' states can suck it. I love my little old Michigan, even if everyone else hates it.
ReplyDeleteJust because I am, and will always be cooler than you because I'm from a cooler state, you don't have to be so mean.
ReplyDeleteIts like, "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful," you know? It hurts, Jon. Its hard being so cool, and so clearly hated on by folk like you because of it.
I didn't ask to be awesome. I'm just from California, that's all.
Marisa - That is literally my second favorite comment EVER!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm in the top 2nd favorite comment spot? What an honor!
ReplyDelete:D
Oh, btw, the 'someone' I was referring to wasn't Tim Allen, I just meant the people in the photos and stuff.
ReplyDeleteYou have 130 followers. Can you fit all of us in your house? Just sayin'. :)
ReplyDeleteI want to go on holiday there now. :)
ReplyDelete"But Cali, New York, Washington, Massachusetts and all the other 'cool' states can suck it."
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what my cool state of Mass. is supposed to suck, but I think this calls for a duel. I demand satisfaction! *Hits Michigan with a white glove.*
Tina - I think a hundred can fit. Plus there's a barn and three deer blinds.
ReplyDeleteLindsay - Let's houseswap.
Anna - Ha. At least we have three million more people than Mass, so we have numbers on our side. Besides, aren't you be a little afraid of getting that white glove dirty?
What a cute town, if i ever win the lottery or become Dan Brown or something I fully plan to relocate to the beach. You already live there, so now I'm jealous.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm gonna be in Michigan this summer, but in Ann Arbor. And when I looked on the map Ludington seems pretty far from Ann Arbor, so I doubt I'll be dropping by.
I'm heading straight for the deer blind! And Marisa, Santa Cruz IS fabulous and you're cool for so many reasons.
ReplyDeleteCrystal I love to see you crack that whip. Yeah, Jon get busier!
That shop sounds pretty sweet and those chairs on that dock look really appealing. Where's your gas station?
I'm so emailing myself this link so I can watch this at home. And only because you said, "Suck it Cali."
ReplyDeleteLOL!
How gorgeous is that? I love upstate NY and areas of PA but Ludington is definitely in the running. (Hugs)Indigo
ReplyDeleteJon, Home Improvement was on this morning and I totally thought of Michigan!
ReplyDeleteI'm from Michigan too. I grew up on the west side of the state by the beach. It's so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteKate - living by the beach is nice, but I refuse to get in a bathing suit. Also, Ann Arbor is Michigan's best city!
ReplyDeleteTina - Deer blind1 has a tv and a bed!
Elana - I hope you weren't too disappointed!
Indigo - Haha, thanks.
Marisa - Um...is that a good thing?
Natalie - where on the west side?!
ReplyDeleteI was born in Grand Rapids and then went to high school in Muskegon. We literally had Hoffmaster State Park at the end of our street and we could walk to Lake Michigan. I didn't know enough to appreciate it at the time, but I sure would now!
ReplyDeleteSusan! I was born at North Ottawa, we lived in Spring Lake and then moved to Norton Shores, which is where my parents grew up! Hoffmaster is great...and crowded! Thanks for the connection.
ReplyDeleteWhen I say I lived in Muskegon, I actually meant Norton Shores (I'm just used to calling it Muskegon for some reason, kind of like now I say I live in St. Louis when I actually live in St. Charles.) I went to Mona Shores High School. How about you?
ReplyDeleteMr. Cate's family are all in Michigan!
ReplyDelete+ my grandma is from the UP, where we are headed for the big 'ol family reunion in July.
How far is Ludington from Gaylord?
(also, the new wallpaper + Mr. Owl is captain fantastic)
Oh, and when I lived there, the section of beach near our house was part of Hoffmaster, but it must have been right on the edge because there were private houses right next to it. And it wasn't crowded on our little piece at all - kind of like a little bit of paradise! :)
ReplyDeleteSusan - I knew you meant NS because Hoffmaster is so far south. I moved from NS when I was in third grade (I went to Lincoln Park) so I never went to Mona Shores HS. My oldest sister went to Muskegon Catholic. We lived a little north of Lake Harbor Park, where the best sledding to be had is!! My Gma lives down the street from Mona Shores HS, toward Norton. Cute suburb to live in, I think!
ReplyDeleteLily - Ludington is...googling...three hours from Gaylord. Where in the UP are you heading? I cannot drive over the bridge, so I have to take a pill before we go.
ReplyDeleteWow. This got heated! I'm still laughing about your Buzz Lightyear comment. You've got STYLE, J!
ReplyDeleteMy son watched this and now wants to move from Ann Arbor to "where Buzz Lightyear lives."
ReplyDeleteThanks. ;)
How gorgeous is that?
